Most people know about the famous Portobello Road Market, but did you know there are around 350 markets in London, each with their own flare?! I don’t think we will get to every market while we are living here, but we are hoping to hit the top 10 list and then some!
First stop – Spitalfields Market.
One of London’s oldest market, Spitalfields is open seven-days-a-week. Shops offer cutting edge fashion and interiors, original artworks and as well as food. The market is also surrounded by independent shops, cafes, bars and restaurants.
Saturday (the day we went) is the busiest day at the market with over 110 stalls that range from selling contemporary and vintage fashion, music, children’s toys, jewelry and accessories and home interiors. We couldn’t really find anything our style, so we only purchased a cinnamon donut and a salted caramel brownie. Both were very yummy!!! Since we were pretty hungry after our sweets, we stopped at Wagamama for a late lunch. I know that doesn’t seem very London, but Nadia went to her first Wagamama in London so it seemed fitting to us!
The second market we ventured out to was Borough Market, I was excited for our first market, but I was REALLY excited about Borough Market!! I even told Nadia it was hard to sleep on Friday night because I was so excited!!
This Market is said to be London’s most renowned food market. Some also say it is a haven for anybody who cares about the quality of the food they eat and people who love eating and drinking. This place was no joke! Borough Market IS WHERE IT’S AT!!! The smells, the different vendors, the people – it was amazing and overwhelming! Unfortunately, Nadia was a little under the weather, so we didn’t stay long. Just long enough to get some good eats in! Now that we know they lay of the land, I can’t wait to come back (with an empty stomach!) when their Christmas Market is in full swing in November!
Next up – Camden Market!!
