This week for Cultural Friday, we visited the Museum of Brands, Packaging & Advertising. Close to the famous Portobello Road Market, it is a filled with retro designs and memories.
We walked through galleries filled to the brim with oddities and wonders. Every corner we turned lead us into a different decade. We saw Rimmel cosmetics from the 1890s, First World War Oxo Cubes, Mars Bars, Rolos and KitKats from the 1930s, a 1970s Chopper Bike and many other items all the way up to the birth of Prince George this past summer. My favorite gallery was the Disney one of course! It paid homage to the birth of the Walt Disney Company and it’s first full length animation film, Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs! It was so great to see all of those old items. Unfortunately, we were unable to take pictures inside, but I snapped this picture of Nadia as we were leaving. To sum the day up, I feel that Nadia said it best ” The Museum of Brands, Packaging & Advertising was a wonderful, exhaustive, and engaging little hidden gem in the museum circuit of London. Very well enjoyed, and the staff made cup of Twinings Tea UK was a lovely touch.”
Next up – Tate Modern!
