Weekly Update – Bits & Bobs

Follow Chronicles of Londinium on

These past few weeks have been a little busier for us with work and school and left little time for fun. Also as most of you know, when the weather gets colder we like to hibernate! And boy has the weather gotten colder! It’s almost as if Mother Nature woke up last week and said “Yup, Winter starts in London TODAY!” There seems to be this chill in the air that I can’t shake. I’ve heard about this but it’s another thing to experience it. For the first time in my life I’m actually cold! Since my body has always run a little warm, this is pretty miraculous! I am wearing lots of layers and at home you can find me under a blanket!! Look at me talking about the weather. I’m so British! 😉

Anyways….we managed to have our first experience going to the cinema. That’s what they call going to the movies here. We are huge movie buffs and I was pretty excited to give it a go. We decided on Thor: The Dark World. It was good, but not as good as the first one. Too be honest, I was too busy chowing down on my sweet and salty popcorn to notice! That’s right, you can get sweet AND salty popcorn mixed in the same bag!!! It was pretty amazing and made the movie even better. I can’t wait to see The Hunger Games: Catching Fire tonight!

After the movie we grabbed a bite to eat at Chiquito, a UK Mexican food chain. We decided to spilt an entree and use our calories for drinking. I think Nadia had the right idea!!

That’s one big Corona!

I ended the weekend attending my first christmas fair held by the Junior League of London. I had a great time walking around to the different booths and meeting lots of Americans! I even signed up to join the Junior League. Well, I guess I will see what happens at the information session in a few weeks. Some of the booths were a little out of my price range, but I did walk away with this great trinket box from Snowden Flood.

Snowden is an interior accessories designer, with a studio on the Thames in London’s Oxo Tower Wharf. We had a lovely chat about her time living in New York and traveling in the States. I look forward to visiting her shop before our time in London is up!
