Basketball, Pi Phi, and Chihuly – On My!!

Follow Chronicles of Londinium on

The past few weeks, we have been taking time to do a few fun things around the city. A few weeks ago, I joined the UK Pi Phi’s for Afternoon Tea. We headed down to Bill’s in Covent Garden for your traditional afternoon tea. It was reasonably priced tea that included a large pot of tea, finger sandwiches, cakes and warm fruit scones, with Bill’s strawberry jam and clotted devonshire cream. After tea, I headed past the soon to be new lululemon store and stopped by the showroom to say hi to the ladies. I can’t wait for the new store to open!!

Nadia also was on half term and after work one day we headed down to see the newly installed Dale Chihuly exhibit at Halcyon Gallery. Dale Chihuly: Beyond the Object sees the American artist respond to the interior architecture of the building – transforming the New Bond Street gallery space with his distinctive hand-blown glass sculptures. It was an amazing exhibit and it was so great to see it again!

Later in the week we headed to the Hippodrome Casino for the Cincinnati vs. Louisville game with the UC Alumni Club in London. We had an awesome time hanging out with people from Cincinnati, eating Skyline, and watching College Basketball! We even got to bring a can of Skyline home!! I can’t wait to make chili dip in a few weeks when we have our friends over for a Red Sox Home Opener Party!

This past Sunday we met our friend Katie for brunch at The Rum Kitchen, a Caribbean inspired beach shack restaurant and cocktail bar. The food was ok, but the drinks were AMAZING!! We all three loved our rum inspired drinks and I would definitely go back for more. After brunch we walked through the Portobello Road market for cupcakes from The Hummingbird Bakery. It was pretty much the best Sunday brunch ever!!

On Monday, I met my friend Donna from Boston for lunch. She was in town for business this week and it was so great to see her! Thanks Donna for making time to see me.

We ended our week getting ready for Laurel’s visit!! I can’t wait for her to be here in a few days!

I hope everyone is having a good week!
