<3 Love is in the air <3

Valentine’s Day came a few days early this year. On Wednesday, February 12, 2014, Kentucky became the latest state to have its ban on marriage equality ruled unconstitutional by a federal judge. According to the Human Rights Campaign, “U.S. District Court Judge John G. Heyburn II ruled that Kentucky ’s marriage amendment violates the constitutional principal of equal protection and that the Commonwealth cannot refuse to recognize valid same-sex marriages conducted in other states. The judge, who was appointed to the bench by President George H. W. Bush, sided with four plaintiff couples who had legally married elsewhere before seeking state recognition in Kentucky.”

Weep no more, my lady, oh weep no more today! We will sing one song for the old Kentucky home, for MY old Kentucky home far away.

I found out the news late on Wednesday via a friend in the States. I was so shocked that I read the post about ten times before it finally started to sink in. I am so proud of my home state and how far it has become over the last eight years since I came out. I’m not sure what this will mean for our future and the prospect of moving back to Kentucky, but at least it’s a possibility now!

On Valentine’s Day, we started the day with a run! It was so great to get out early and get it over with in the morning. I never thought I would become a morning exerciser, but it’s starting to grow on me. After our run we came home, got cleaned up and opened our V-day presents. I got a new electric toothbrush, which I needed badly! I was super excited, especially since we had decided to purchase one when we returned to the States. As for Nadia, if you ask her what she misses most about the States she immediately says “Welch’s Grape Jelly!” Thank goodness for my friend Katie and American stores in London, I got her just that AND crunchy Jif Peanut Butter. It pretty much got me Wife of the Year status! She was so excited and of course wanted PB&J’s for lunch!!

The other thing I loved about this week was the cute images that Disney put out for V-day. I couldn’t help but steal a few.

I hope everyone had a good Valentine’s Day and you found a way to treat yourself!

xoxo, mags
